Governor Strickland plans to cut $2,300,000 from the Dayton Metro Library’s budget in addition to the $4,000,000 that has already been cut in 2009. Another $4.7 million would be cut in 2010. These cuts would effect all of Ohio’s libraries and, if approved, would have devastating results.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who oppose these cuts and want to keep strong libraries in our state. We urge our leaders to act now to make sure these cuts are not approved.

28 HALL, ANNETTE 08/28/09 10:33 am FARMERSVILLE WE NEED THE LIBRARIES TO STAY OPEN, MANY STUDENTS NEED ACCESS TO THE LIBRARIES IN ORDER TO PERFORM SCHOOL PROJECTS. WITH MANY JOB LOSSES, MANY CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO FINISH SCHOOL WORK.
29 Toliver, Tanya 08/27/09 3:15 pm Dayton The library is one of the places are youth can go to instead of the streets. With a lot of funding cut on youth programs in school, cutting library funding is limiting their options.
